Weekly Update for 01/05/15

PALS Testing
This week we will begin our mid-year PALS Testing.  PALS stands for Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening.  Each student will be given a spelling test to demonstrate their knowledge of how letters and sounds are put together to form words.  Then students will be given an assessment to test their sight word automaticity.  The final part of this testing will be an assessment that tests their reading fluency and comprehension.  Once this testing is complete, an analysis of your child's results will be sent home, and requests for conferences can be made at that time.

Weekly Update for 12/15/14

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Our performance of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will be on  Friday, December 19 at 1:00 in our classroom.  Students are invited to wear their pajamas to school that day as well.  We will once again sing a few songs and then present our play "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".  Friends and family are welcome to join us for our presentation.  Following our presentation, are more than welcome to take your child for an early dismissal to start Winter Break early.

Weekly Update for 12/01/14

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

Thanksgiving Play
We will performing our play, "The ABC's of Thanksgiving" on Wednesday, November 26 at 10:15 in our classroom.  We will sing a few songs and then present our play "The ABC's of Thanksgiving."  Friends and family are welcome to join us for our presentation.  Following our presentation, are more than welcome to take your child for an early dismissal to start the Thanksgiving holiday early.

Weekly Update for 11/10/14

Field Trip on Thursday
We will be going on our field trip to Chippokes on Thursday, November 13.  Unless otherwise noted on your child's permission slip, he/she needs to bring lunch in a bag.  Also, make sure to have your child wear good walking shoes and a jacket if the weather requires  it because we will be outside all day.  If you are planning to join us on the field trip, feel free to meet us at Chippokes at the Farm and Forestry Museum or follow the buses from CAES.  We will be leaving around 9:15.

Weekly Update for 10/27/14

Pumpkin Day
We will be celebrating Pumpkin Day on Friday, October 31 instead of Book Character Day this year.  I will be contacting volunteers about helping with activities in the morning morning because it is an early dismissal day at 2:20 that day.  Children are encouraged to wear orange be prepared to have a great day learning all about pumpkins.
