Weekly Update for 03/03/14

Thursday, March 6  the cafeteria will be serving green eggs and ham in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday.  If your child does not ordinarily go to breakfast, but would like to, please send in $1.10.

We will NOT be having a story in our reading book this week.  Instead, we will focus on celebrating Dr. Seuss' life and books.

There will be no spelling test, story test, or sight word test this week.  The words listed on the homework sheet for this week will be for next week.

Lastly, one of our class computers has stopped working.  This means that we do not have enough computers for our small group math rotations.  I have brought in my personal laptop from home, my work laptop, and my personal iPad to accommodate the number of students we have with four computers from the school.  However, with one of those four computers not working now, there aren't more computers to replace it.

In the past I have posted requests for donations to class projects on the online charity Donors Choose.  I am always amazed at the generosity that comes from people in our community and outside of it.  Right now our class needs a new laptop for our class.  Below is a link to our project on Donors Choose.  Please consider making a donation.  Also,
beginning March 10th and until 17th Donors Choose is sponsoring a Friends and Family Challenge.  I have also listed the information for the challenge below.

Project titled:  Lighten Our Load With A Laptop

Donors Choose Friends and Family Challenge
It's time to introduce the brand new March Friends and Family Challenge! We know you have the potential to bring in tremendous support for your classroom, and want to reward you for all you do to get your students what they need.
How does it work?
It's all about the number of donors who give to you! The challenge will run March 10 - March 17, 2014. During that time, we will be keeping a tally of every donor who gives $20 or more to your classroom. The three teachers who bring in the most donors will earn an experience of a lifetime...more details to come! In the meantime, check out our FAQ page.
Even if you are not one of the top three, you will still be a winner to us! We'll send you aDonorsChoose.org gift card based on the number of donors who give to you.
New donations of $20 or more.  Only credit card donations of $20 or more count toward your donor tally. (Check payments, gift card redemptions, and account credits do not qualify.)
