Weekly Update for 03/09/20


To Infinity & Beyond
Our Expo is Wednesday, March 11th.  Students need to be at school at 5:45.  The Expo will be 6:00PM-6:30PM).  This will be the night that our two classes share all that we have learned about Space in conjunction with Mrs. Vukmanic’s SOAR class.  It is my hope to have all students attend this special event. Please return the permission slip sent home with your child’s interim to let me know if your child will in attendance. 
Relay for Life Spirit Week
This week we will be holding a Relay for Life Spirit Week.  For a $1.00 each day, your child can participate in the spirit days listed below.  Please join in for this important cause:
Monday- Costume Day
Tuesday- Hat Day
Wednesday- Pajama Day
Thursday- Stuffed Animal Day
Friday- Sports Day

Weekly Update for 03/02/20

Virginia Reads One Book:  The Toothpaste Millionaire
Once again our school will be participating in the One Book, One School.  This year we will be joining with hundreds of other schools across the state of Virginia in reading the book Toothpaste Millionaire.   If your child is the oldest member in our school, he/she will be bringing home your family’s copy of the book.  I will list the chapters to be read each night on our class blog and the weekly memo.  A read aloud version will also be available on the CAES homepage.

Weekly Update for 02/24/20

Kids Heart Jump Night
Mrs. Madden is once again hosting our Kids Heart Jump Night on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6:00-7:30.  Students and parents can participate in a variety of fun and exciting jumping stations.  There will be a donation fee of $1 per person and all proceeds will be donated to our wonderful cause!

Weekly Update for 02/17/20

Carrollton Public Library
We will be going to the Carrollton Public Library on Thursday, February 20 as part of our “To Infinity & Beyond” project- based learning experience.  We will walk to the library and participate in their Space Experience program (1:50-2:30).  There is no cost for the field trip.  A copy of the field trip permission slip was sent home in your child's reading folder on Friday.

Weekly Update for 02/10/20

Valentine’s Day
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 14.  If your child would like to share valentine cards with the class, please make sure to include one for each child in our class.  A list of students’ names is on your child’s behavior check-in located in his/her reading folder. We will also be making a bag to put our Valentines in at school.

Kindness Grams
Kindness Grams will be on sale February 11th-13th.  They are $0.50 each.  This are a way to spread positivity and good citizenship at CAES.  A form is attached to this memo to be completed and brought in with money for Kindness Grams.  They will be delivered on Friday, February 14th

Black History Month
We will be learning about the lives of several important African Americans this week.  Each student has picked a person he/she is interested in learning more about.  We will research their lives and why he/she is important to our American history.  Look for our projects in the hallway beginning February 3rd.

Valentine’s Day

Crayons, Pencils, and Scissors

As we end the first semester of the school year, now is a good time to send in new crayons, pencils, and replacement scissors.  I have given out all of the boxes of crayons that were sent in at the beginning of the school year.  If you can send in extra supplies, our class would appreciate it.
