Weekly Update for 06/01/15


Zoo Field Trip
Just a reminder that our field trip to the zoo is on Thursday, June 4.  Please remember to have your child dress comfortably with tennis shoes and sunscreen if the weather requires it.  Unless marked on your child's permission slip, he/she needs to pack their lunch in a paper bag for the trip as well.  

The Rainbow Fish Play
We are once again preparing to perform a short play for our “Red Carpet Event” at 1:00 on Thursday, June 11. We will perform The Rainbow Fish play in our classroom. Following our play we will have a short awards ceremony.  Anyone is welcome to attend our “Red Carpet Event”, and at the conclusion, you are more than welcome to take your child and begin your summer vacation a little early.

Weekly Update for 05/25/15


The Rainbow Fish Play

Weekly Update 05/18/15

Field Trip Money Due
Field Trip money is due by Friday, May 22.  The cost of our trip to the zoo is $13.00.  This includes transportation to and from the zoo, admission into the zoo, and a program that was presented to students from the Virginia Living Museum.

End of the Year PALS Testing
This week will continue the end of the year PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening) testing window.  Students will be given a spelling test (not something they can study for), a series of sight word lists, and a running record in which they read to me individually.  With the information gathered from this testing, I will determine their reading level for the end of the year.  Once I have a chance to review the data from testing, I will send a letter home that shows your child's progress for the year.

Weekly Update for 05/11/15

Chorus Program
The first grade patriotic chorus program will be Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 in the cafeteria.  Children participating in the program will meet in the music room at 6:30.  Mrs. Willard has requested they wear a red shirt with black pants or black jeans.
