Weekly Update for 02/22/16

 Read Across America Week

February 29th - March 4th we will be celebrating "Read Across America" week.  More details about this special celebration will be coming home this week.  Our week will be concluded on Friday with a Book Character Day.  Everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from a book and bring the book to share with the class.  I'm thinking about my costume...are you?

What are we learning this week?

Language Arts: 
Reading Book Story:  Slim, Luke, and the Mules
Strategy: Determining Importance
Skill:  Plot
Phonics:  Short U and Long U words (magic e); final digraphs /th/, /sh/, and /ch/
Language:  Contractions and Verbs

Math: Place Value (SOL 1.1b) and Addition/ Subtraction (SOL 1.5)

Social Studies: Famous Americans (SOL 1.2)
