Weekly Update for 10/31/16

Chippokes Field Trip

We will be taking our field trip to Chippokes on Wednesday, November 2.  We will be leaving school around 9:00 and will return by 2:00.  Please make sure that your child packs a bag lunch.  We will be outside for most of the trip. Please have your child wear sneakers and wear a jacket if the weather requires it.  

What are we learning this week?

Reading: 
SOL 1.13 Write to communicate ideas for a variety of purposes.

Math: Addition and Subtraction

1.7 The student will:

a. recognize and describe with fluency part-whole relationships for numbers up to 10 in a variety of configurations

b. demonstrate fluency with addition facts for sums to 10 or less and the corresponding subtraction facts

Science: Animals
SOL 1.5 The student will investigate and understand that animals, including humans, have basic needs and certain distinguishing characteristics.  Key concepts include:
a. basic needs include adequate air, food, water, shelter, space (habitat);
b. animals, including humans, have many different physical characteristics; and
c. animals can be classified according to a variety of characteristics.
