Weekly Update for 01/03/19

What are we learning this week?
Reading
1.7 Use semantic clues and syntax to expand vocabulary when reading. 
1.8 Expand vocabulary.
1.9 Read and demonstrate comprehension of a variety of fictional texts.
e) Ask and answer who, what, when, where, why, and how questions about what is read. 
Writing SOL 1.13 The student will write to communicate ideas of a variety of purposes. 
c) Revise by adding descriptive words when writing about people, places, things, and events. 


Math
1.9  The student will read and interpret a calendar. 

  • Read a calendar to locate a given day or date (e.g., What day of the week os the 10th?  What date is Saturday?)
  • Determine the day/date before and after a given day/date (e.g., Today is the 30th, so yesterday must have been the ___?)
  • Given a calendar, determine the number of any days of the week (e.g., How many Fridays are in the month of October?)

Weekly Update for 12/10/18



Happy “Grinchmas”
Our class will be celebrating the holiday season with a party on Friday, December 14th.  The theme for our party is the Grinch.  We will do some crafts, have a Grinch-themed snack, and watch the classic cartoon, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”  Once again, Mrs. Lufkin will be coordinating our party.  If you were not contacted to help with the Halloween party and would like to help this time, please let me know.  I will put you in touch with Mrs. Lufkin.
Week of December
Next week, we will celebrate the holiday season with special theme days.  Here is the schedule for the week:
Monday, December 10:  Ugly Sweater Day-wear your tackiest Christmas sweater
Tuesday, December 11:  Holiday Socks- show of your fancy footwear with festive socks
Wednesday, December 12: Holiday Hats- top your head like a Christmas tree with your best holiday hat
Thursday, December 13:  Bows and Ties- whether it is a bow tie or hair bow put some holiday glitz around your neck or in your hair
Friday, December 14:  Pajama Day- enjoy the last day before Winter Break by wearing your comfiest pajamas

Weekly Update for 12/03/18

Impact Aid Form
If you have not completed the Impact Aid Form that was sent home in report cards, please do so.  It needs to be completed by all families, not just military families.  This form is very important to providing funding to our school district.  If you need another copy of the form, please let me know.

Spirit Stick HoliDAZE
Wednesday, December 4 is our next Spirit Stick Competition.  Wear your best red, green, and other holiday outfits.  Let’s bring the Spirit Stick back to Room 200!
