*Book Buddy Bags
Beginning tonight, your child will begin bringing home 2 books
from school to each night to read. These
books will be in your child’s Book Buddy Bag.
Please help your child to return their books each day.
*Reading Log
Each night it is the expectation that
your child will read 30 minutes, which will account for 2 steps in their
reading log. Your child’s
reading log is located in his/her Reading Folder. Students have been logging steps in their
Reading Folder since the first day of school, and are very familiar with the
procedure.
*Reading Folder
After careful consideration, first grade has decided not to use
the 3-ring binder listed on our supply list.
At the time our supply list had to be submitted in May, we were unaware
that the school would be providing a Book Buddy Bag for books to be taken home
in. The 3-ring binders do not fit in the
Book Buddy Bags. Your child should have
brought home the 3-ring binder. I
apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Your child’s reading folder will become the folder that is sent
home daily. It will contain the
following:
·
Reading Log- for
logging daily steps at home and school
·
Power Goal sheet-
used to list your child’s current Power Goal in reading.
·
Zipper Pouch-
storage space for any items pertaining to the Power Goal
·
“Return to School”
pocket- items placed in this pocket need to be completed and returned to school
as soon as possible
·
“Keep at Home”
pocket- announcements from school and our classroom will be placed in this
pocket
The red folder will continue to come home, but only on
Thursdays. Graded papers from the
previous week will be placed in this folder.
These papers can remain at home.
*CAES Fun Run
The PTA is ogranizing this year’s Fun Run,
which will take place on Friday, October 19th. This will be CAES’ major fundraiser for the
school year. Our goal is for each child
to raise $65.
Our goal is for each child to raise $65. The best part about this fundraiser is that
